On the way to viewing a property, a late lunch, along with a double shot of espresso, it was a lovely afternoon. The property was just a five-minute drive away via a bitumen, a few bridges and bends, surrounded by fat cows and wallabies. Spring was coming soon.

“I felt at peace on arrival, choosing to park the car near the entrance and explore the surroundings, grateful for the opportunity to connect through the song of birds.”

This place was a tranquil and hidden sanctuary, with a family of Staghorn on a Figtree, a rickety old wooden fence, and lots of flowers and insects.

I looked to my left and saw lush meadows and lofty trees that created a tropical atmosphere. A dazzling Flame Tree in front of me drew my attention, which I guessed would look even more splendid when it blossomed.

A stream meandered through the forest on my right, flanked by Cedars, Jacarandas, Bananas, and Palms. The sun illuminated the myriad of blossoms. A flock of Finches and a couple of Potaroos heralded the arrival of Spring. Beyond them, a Hoop Pine, lofty bamboo stalks, blooming orchids and crimson native ginger. The eastern horizon displayed the radiant mountains mirroring the Sunset, and I marvelled at Mother Nature’s beauty.

As I walked along the mild incline, I saw an old wooden cottage on on my left, with a bright porch adorned with potted plants, suncatchers, and wind chimes. This home was surrounded by fruit trees, such as a mulberry tree, and a veggie patch. Some small chickens were in their pen, perched above a stream that was bordered by native bushes and flowers.

Close by, a dam overflowed with water, likely coming from the streams of the neighbouring Nightcap Ranges National Park. A flock of Wood Ducks bathed and preened themselves, as the day faded.

A few steps away, another cabin had a balcony with a hammock, where a man was resting under the sun's warm glow. He looked like he was sleeping, or perhaps he was just savoring the peaceful surroundings. I didn't want to interrupt him, so I continued walking softly.

On a hill, near a shelter, two horses were nibbling on the grass. They seemed calm and content.

Countless macadamia nut trees are in full bloom, with butterflies and dragonflies drawn to their nectar.

Another cabin with a canopy looked quite cozy and inviting.

The sun was setting, but this journey was taking me somewhere.

I was curious about this place, maybe even compelled, because it was beautiful.

I looked up and saw a huge cover of eucalyptus trees with beams of light that pierced through. The sky was getting darker and its colors were mesmerizing. “Did I hear the noise of water?” The trail guided me.

I walked a little bit more, and then it appeared before me… The spotlight revealed the most splendid waterfall, pulsing with its existence. Pure water tumbled from the origin, flowing into its rocky basin below.

Decorated by ferns and green moss, the mirroring of the sky and the trees, serenity at its best.

This place fills me with vitality, a paradise essential in the presence of the nearby mountains, full of stories that go back to the Dreamtime. This is where Warrajum, the rainbow serpent, rests, and where healing and initiation happen.

Darkness brought a spectacle of dazzling stars to the sky. I sat on a log that was old and wise and gazed at the stellar beauty.

The concert began with the frogs and the crickets. There were fireflies shining, like souls in the blackness, emitting sparks in the quietness of night. Microbats touched my body as they soared by, eating the many small insects glittering in the air. Stag and elk horns look like phantoms in the shades.

I sensed my fragility, but also a joy to exist.

The instant to witness such splendour and balance.
